Cover Supervisor Training

Academic Choice prides itself on its Cover Supervisor training. The course is led by one of our Directors - Richard Thomas. Richard has an accomplished track record in secondary education which culminated in a senior leadership role in a challenging inner city school. Richard trains Cover Supervisors for Academic Choice, as well as for schools and Local Authorities.

The training, which normally takes place over 2 days is dynamic and pacey, covering aspects
such as:

  • Classroom management
  • Assertive discipline
  • Teaching and learning styles
  • How to engage pupils
  • How to organize a purposeful lesson
  • Safeguarding
  • The basics of how schools operate and what systems will be in place to support you

The course has been described as informative, eye opening, thought provoking and at times even fun!

CPD for Teachers and Cover Supervisors

To support the development of our staff, we provide ongoing CPD for all. The programme covers a range of topics, ranging from the latest developments in education to some of the “old favourites”. Regular feedback from our client schools, helps us to identify specific training needs for individuals which are then addressed in these twilight sessions.

All of our Teachers and Cover Supervisors have the opportunity to attend informal workshops led by our Training Manager and held in our Teacher Resource Centre. The centre is equipped with internet access, ICT facilities and is home to a “swap” system for Teachers to share ideas and useful resources.

INSET and courses offered to schools and Local Authorities

Academic Choice offers a range of INSET opportunities for delivery to schools and their staff, both teaching and none teaching. Courses can be delivered either on site or if preferred at a venue away from school. Group sizes from whole staff INSET to small numbers of two or three can be accommodated.
